Menu Design

The Menu design was meant as a warm-up for the semester, but it contained crucial steps in creating a successful design, though it may have been simple, one had to focus on strong fundamentals like typography, hierarchy, and line spacing to lay out information. We were given a menu from a local cafe that needed lots of work. One of the first steps was figuring out the hierarchy, what items would be more focused on? Who and what age will be prominently eating here? Putting appetizers and drinks at the top felt necessary, as those are the first things people typically order when out to eat, next was laying out main courses and sides. Knowing it was not a chain restaurant, I put in some information about the owners to add a more local and inviting feel for visitors and regulars.
